Pride Talk project seeks participants!

2S/LGBTQIA+ communities are disproportionately affected by suicide, but there are very few interventions targeted to respond to their unique needs.

The Pride Talk project aims to fill this gap through the development of a suicide prevention intervention designed by and for 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities in Canada. This intervention, which will be entirely online, will enable them to gain knowledge and skills to intervene with their peers experiencing suicidal thoughts and to guide them toward appropriate services.

The Pride Talk project represents an opportunity to make a change in suicide prevention within 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities, by putting forward the voices, experiences, values, and needs of their members.

The Pride Talk project is seeking individuals above 18 years old who:

  • identify as 2S/LGBTQIA+
  • live in Canada
  • Have received support from a 2S/LGBTQIA+ peer AND/OR provided support to a 2S/LGBTQIA+ peer for suicidal thoughts in a non-professional context.

Participation in this project consists of answering a short online questionnaire , following which the selected individuals will take part in a semi-structured interview , in French or English, lasting up to 90 minutes, on the Zoom platform.

A compensation of $75 is offered to all interviewees.

Pride Talk is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and approved by the Comité d’éthique de la recherche en sciences et en santé (CERSES) of the Université de Montréal (no 2023-4488).
