Gambling is a common practice in Canada: 65% of Canadians over the age of 15 report having gambled in the past year<\/span>1<\/sup>. While most gamblers do not experience negative consequences, between 0.7% and 6.5% of them will develop gambling-related problems<\/span>2<\/sup>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There is limited data on the prevalence and incidence of gambling among 2S\/LGBTQIA+ communities. However, some studies suggest that gambling problems may be more common among 2S\/LGBTQIA+ individuals. These individuals are particularly vulnerable due to additional challenges they face related to mental health and discrimination. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s why Qollab is launching Queer Bets, a study to better understand the experiences and needs of 2S\/LGBTQIA+ individuals who regularly gamble or who have experienced gambling-related issues in the past five years.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our study has two components: the first is a qualitative component using the photovoice methodology, in which participants are invited to take a few photos illustrating their experiences and discuss them in an interview; the second component is a quantitative one, in the form of an online survey developed in collaboration with the CBRC (<\/span>Community-Based Research Center<\/span><\/i>). This survey will be available in spring 2025.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
